The 2023 MN Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service will be held Sunday, September 24th at 1 p.m. at the State Capitol Grounds, St. Paul, MN.

Every year since 2011, hundreds of people have gathered on the grounds of the State Capitol on the last Sunday of September for a solemn ceremony to remember the Minnesota firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

This year’s service will unveil the engraved memorials for Hopkins Assistant Fire Chief James “Jimmy” Scanlon and St. Paul Fire Captain Chris Parsons, as well as a remembrance of fallen firefighters from Mapleton and St. Louis Park.

Schedule:
10:45 a.m. – Posting of the Guard
11:45 a.m. – Reading of the Honor Roll
12:30 p.m. – Sea of Uniforms
12:40 p.m. – Processional begins
1 p.m. – Memorial Service begins

The Minnesota Fire Service Foundation coordinates the effort to recognize the state’s firefighters who died in the line of duty and provides support and resources to fire departments, firefighters and their families throughout Minnesota.
