The Hopkins Fire Department has announced the funeral plans for retired Chief David Klocek.

All Minnesota Firefighters are invited to support retired Chief Klocek’s family and the celebration of Dave’s life. There will be a Sea of Uniforms at the Wooddale Church. There will be no procession.

Funeral Notice:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of DAVID H KLOCEK. Age 72 of Minnetonka (formerly of Hopkins) passed away peacefully on Mar. 13, 2020.

Dave joined the Hopkins Fire Department in July of 1982 and retired on Jan 19 2006 with 24 years of service to the City of Hopkins. Dave held the positions of Firefighter, Captain Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief and Fire Chief. Dave served as Fire Chief / Emergency Manager from 1988 -1993. Dave was Fire Chief when the Department received the 1989 Fire Department of the Year. Dave also spent 20 years with Hennepin Technical Center in the Fire Training Division. Dave was an instructor in all aspects of fire training and eventually became coordinator of Fire Training for Hennepin Technical College. Dave trained hundreds of Minnesota Firefighters throughout the State.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; daughter Kelly and husband, Eric Van Den Heuvel of Carver; granddaughters Bella & Ava; sisters Sharon Lamkin of Mpls. and Terry Austin & husband Steve of St. Louis Park; brother Greg of New Orleans, LA; nieces & nephews. Private family Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
