The Burnsville Fire Department has announced the passing of retired Assistant Chief Dan Hove. 

It is with great sadness that The Burnsville Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Burnsville ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF Dan Hove. Assistant Chief Hove was 60 years old and resided Oakdale. Assistant Chief Hove passed away on peacefully surrounded by family on May 18, 2020 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer

Assistant Chief Hove held many roles over the 31 years of his time spent with the City of Burnsville Fire Department, including; Firefighter, Fire Motor Operator, Firefighter/Paramedic, Fire Captain, Acting Fire Chief, and Assistant Fire Chief.

Assistant Chief Hove received his Firefighter 1 certification in 1982 and his Paramedic certification in 1985. Assistant Chief Hove began his career with the City of Burnsville in January of 1982.  Assistant Chief Hove was one of the first firefighter-fire motor operators to the newly created Burnsville Fire Department, following the split from the Public Safety Department.

Over the years, Assistant Chief Hove was instrumental in:

Replacement of equipment and vehicles, guiding author on the CPSE Accreditation, Guide Plan, Obtained Assistance to Firefighter Grants for the department, Physical Ability Test, Dive Rescue/Water Rescue SCBA Coordinator. Dan was a decorated employee over his career receiving the Meritorious Action award, Commendation, Certificate of Merit.

Assistant Chief Hove also spent many years with the Maplewood (East County Line) Fire Department retiring as District Chief. A Private Family Service will be held Saturday May 23rd. A celebration of life will be held for Asst Chief Hove at a later date.
