From the St. Croix Falls FD:

It is with great sadness that we share the untimely passing of Retired Capt. Jim Finnegan of St. Croix Falls, WI. Jim had a long career in the fire service, both in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but ended his career serving here in St. Croix Falls as a Captain. Jim was a mentor and an example.

On February 17, 2009, the Scandia City Council appointed Jim Finnegan as Volunteer Chief of the Scandia Fire and Rescue Department, effective February 24, 2009, for a term ending December 31, 2012. Jim had been a member of the Scandia Fire Department since February of 1996, and served as an Assistant Chief since February of 1998.

Jim Finnegan retired from the St. Croix Falls Fire Department in July 2016. He hoped to spend more time with his wife, kids, and grandkids, whom he adored.

Jim’s wife Eileen posted earlier that Jim passed away peacefully today, surrounded by his family. Our hearts are heavy and broken. Jim, may you rest in peace, brother, and may your family find peace.
