9 Oct 2017 – The Minnesota State Patrol says a St. Paul paramedic was killed when the ambulance she was in struck the back HealthEast Morningof a semitrailer that had stalled with mechanical issues at the intersection of I-94 and I-694.  The driver was rushed to the hospital but the passenger was killed.

The state patrol said at a news conference the semi had stalled along the side of the freeway with mechanical issues and had been stopped for about 15 minutes before it was struck by an ambulance that had come from Monticello. The ambulance was empty of patients.

The ambulance had attempted to merge onto I-94 and struck the back of the semi. The passenger in the ambulance, a 24-year-old St. Paul woman whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene. The driver, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center.
