The West Metro Fire-Rescue District and Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial Association (MFFMA) are sponsoring a Funeral Operations School that will be presented by Honor Guard Clinics and Schools, LLC.
This class will help you prepare for the worst case scenario of a Public Safety funeral. Brent Jones, founder of Honor Guard Clinics & Schools, LLC (formerly the Milwaukee Firefighters Honor Guard Clinic) is the lead instructor of this course. He has been instructing Honor Guard training since 2005; he has been traveling to fire department LODD funerals around the country to lead or assist in the funeral operations; notably, he was integral in several funerals of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots after the tragedy near Prescott, Arizona in 2013.
In this class you will learn the protocols and needs for the 3 basic types of Public Safety funerals – Retiree, Active Duty & LODD; Protocols for the scene of a LODD incident; Notifications; Family Planning; Department Planning; Honor Guard Planning and the execution of Honor Guard plans and protocols; Planning and operations for multiple LODD events; Planning and operations for public safety suicides; Other topics covered are family liaison, staging, unit line-ups and logistics associated with Public Safety funerals and memorial events. Students are provided with an overview and checklists for setups and operations at funeral homes, church/chapels as well as graveside services.
