It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of JAMES F FLANDERS age 59, of Minnetonka Minnesota. Assistant Chief Flanders passed away July 16, 2022.

James F. Flanders, was born in Minneapolis, MN on December 20, 1962 to Richard and Shirley Flanders. He went to school and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1981. On December 2nd 1995 Jim married Marci. On May 6th 2000 they welcomed Nicholas “James” into their family.

Jim was a processing engineer for close to 15 years. He then went on to join the Minnetonka Fire Department. He served on the Minnetonka Fire Department for 33 years starting in November of 1988. He served 25 of those years as the Assistant Chief.

Jim had a sense of humor that never faltered. He truly touched the hearts of so many and left an imprint on those around him.

Jim is survived by his wife Marci, child Nicholas “James”, brother in law David Oine, Niece Michelle Padgett-Bruins, Great Nephew David Fischer, Great Nieces Elizabeth Kisor, Alexis (Zachary) Ryks, Kayla (Luke) Otto, and Hannah Bruins, four Great Great Nieces, 8 Great Great Nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Richard and Shirley Flanders, his in laws Karl and Nadine Oine, Sister Cheryl Bruins and Nephew Robert Bruins.

Service will be 11AM, Friday, July 22 with visitation from 9-11AM at Hopkins High School, 2400 Lindbergh Drive. Private family interment at Shady Oak Cemetery, Minnetonka.

There will be a “Sea of Blue” at the school.

There will be a Fire Truck procession from the High School to the Shady Oak Cemetery.

Burial will be private family interment.
