It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of DENNIS LLOYD NELSON age 68, of Louisburg, Minnesota passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Dennis Lloyd Nelson was born in Madison on August 21, 1953 to Lloyd and Doris (Olson) Nelson. He graduated from Madison High School in 1971. Denny married Linda Stensrud in September 1976. To this union two children, Chris and Elly, were born. In September 1997, he married Kathy Erdmann and accepted her two children, Heidi and Erik, as his own. During their marriage, they welcomed their eight wonderful grandchildren.

Denny worked for the Louisburg Farmers Elevator as Assistant Manager for 46 years, retiring in 2019. He also farmed with his brother Rick and his cousin Gary Roiland. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he served as a council member and usher. Denny was a longtime member of the Louisburg Fire Department and Pheasants Forever. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren, attending all his grandkids’ activities, gardening, canning and traveling with Kathy. He had a gift of gab and never saw a person he didn’t wave at.

Denny was diagnosed with cancer on January 6th and after a courageous but short battle of only 21 days, he passed away peacefully at his home on January 27th, surrounded by his loved ones.

Left to mourn him are his wife of nearly 25 years, Kathy of rural Madison, his son Chris Nelson of Madison, his daughter Elly (Justin) Schmidt of Hendricks, his daughter Heidi (Jon) Hanson of Milan, his son Erik (Kristen) Gerrits of Lino Lakes. His grandchildren Tyler, Ben and Kaylee Schmidt, Elizabeth, Isaac and Charlie Hanson and Ava and Isaiah Gerrits, his brother Rick Nelson of Madison, his sister Mona Persing of Worthington and his sister Gail Nelson (Gary Lee Johnson) of Mankato. His parents Lloyd and Doris Nelson precede him in death.
