Governor Walz Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of Chief Warrant Officer Two Charles Paul Nord
In honor and remembrance of Chief Warrant Officer Two Charles Paul Nord, Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings from sunrise until sunset on Monday, December 16, 2019.
Chief Warrant Officer Two Charles Nord died tragically in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash December 5, 2019. He will be remembered in a funeral service at Perham High School on December 16, 2019.
The proclamation from the Governor reads as follows:
WHEREAS: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord dedicated 12 years of exemplary service to the Minnesota National Guard; and
WHEREAS: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord served with distinction on a nine-month deployment with the Minnesota National Guard’s Company C, 2-211th General Support Aviation Battalion in Kuwait, where the unit provided aerial medical evacuation; and
WHEREAS: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord died tragically in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash nine minutes after take-off from St. Cloud, Minnesota, on a routine maintenance flight; and
WHEREAS: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord will be remembered for his easy-going nature, quick-witted humor, and incredible love for his family; and
WHEREAS: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord is survived by his loving wife Kaley; his daughter Lydia; his unborn son Jack; his parents Paul and Monica Nord of Vergas; his brother James (Tiffany) Nord of Moorhead; maternal grandparents Jack and Kathleen Braun of Wyndmere; mother and father-in-law Jeff and Lisa Ratz of Vergas; sister-in-law Keshia (John) Buschette of Cormorant, MN; brother-in-law Kasey (Tori) Ratz of Detroit Lakes; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, a nephew, and a niece; and
WHEREAS: The State of Minnesota recognizes Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord for his dedicated service and ultimate sacrifice to our state and country. All thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and members of the Minnesota National Guard.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM WALZ, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby order all United States flags and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota from sunrise until sunset on Monday, December 16, 2019, in honor and remembrance of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord.
