Derek Simpson, 26, a firefighter for Detroit Lakes Fire Department, passed away suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 21. All Minnesota firefighters are invited to support Derek’s family and attend the celebration of his life.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of DEREK ALLYN SIMPSON, age 26 of Detroit Lakes passed away on Saturday Sept 21, 2019.
Born in Buffalo Minnesota on April 12th 1993, the youngest son of Marc and Cindy Simpson. He attended Monticello Public Schools and graduated in 2011. He worked for Foltz Trucking in Detroit lakes Minnesota maintaining their trucks and trailers and was a member of the Detroit Lakes Fire Department starting his service in May 2016.
He is survived by his parents Marc and Cindy Simpson his brother Mike and wife Rae Lynn Simpson, his brother Matt and wife Samantha Simpson and numerous nieces and nephews, he was proceeded in death by his Grandparents Lester and Doris Simpson, Lowell Huso and Betty and Amer Froysland.
