The Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) wants to remind EMS personnel about a monetary award program entitled the Cooper/Sams Volunteer Ambulance Award.

What is it?
This award program was established by the legislature to reward volunteer ambulance personnel for their contributions to their communities.

Do you qualify?
You might. Here are the criteria:

  1. You must have been a volunteer with an ambulance service. The legislature defines an ambulance service volunteer as someone who may earn no more than a specific amount adjusted annually with the Consumer Price Index. For 2018, that amount is $ 7,854.00.
  2. You must have resigned or retired from an ambulance service.
  3. You must be at least 50 years old.
  4. You must have earned at least five service credits. Each year of service earns a volunteer one service credit.
