Michael Lockhart, Chain of Lakes Fire & Rescue
Chain of Lakes Fire & Rescue
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely and sudden passing of Chain of Lakes Fire Captain Michael Lockhart. Mike was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer on December 13, 2012. He was the young age of 34. He was married to Alyssa, and were childhood friends since the age of 12 and re-entered each other’s life 4 years ago. Mike also was a father to an almost 5 year old boy, named Aidan, whom he loved with every inch of his heart. He loved spending time with his family and friends, loved the outdoors, an extreme hunter and was able to take part in his first Elk hunt 3 days prior to passing, which ended a success with a 5x5 monster Elk. Mike is a Volunteer Firefighter and Captain for the Chain of Lakes Fire and Rescue in Richmond, MN. Both Mike and his wife Alyssa have been with the department since the opening, which was September of 2011. He passed away at home on January 13th, 2013. |

Captain Lockhart Benefit
Prior to Captain Lockhart's death, a benefit was planned to assist the family with medical expenses. That benefit will still be taking place on February 9th. The message about the benefit is:
Mike is from the Richmond/Cold Spring, MN area. He is 34-years old and has been married to his wife Alyssa for just over 1.5 years. Mike is a father to a 4-year old son named Aidan. Mike and Alyssa are both members of the Chain of Lakes Fire & Rescue in Richmond, MN. On December 14th, Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer that was noted to have already spread to his liver, lower aspect of lungs, and kidneys. Mike's original prognosis was 3 months with chemotherapy to slow the progression. Unfortunately, after a recent hospitalization, it was found that Mike's cancer continues to spread even with the chemotherapy. This young family is now working on spending time with one another and enjoying each other as Mike's latest prognosis is "a few weeks". Please spread the word so this benefit can be a success for Mike and his family. Any help/donations are greatly appreciated. See the attached flyer for details regarding the benefit/spaghetti dinner.
If you have any questions or desire to provide a donation for the live auction, please feel free to contact me via e-mail, phone call, or text.
