Daniel P. Gerdes, Firefighter, Engine 17 - January 19, 1958

Gerdes died of a heart attack brought on by exertion in intense heat and smoke at a fire in the Ralston-Purina mill at Hiawatha Avenue and 38th Street. He died at the fire scene.
